  • Overview

    This position will oversee the effective operation of all building facility systems. In addition, to apprise the Chief Engineer and the Assistant Chief Engineer of any condition affecting building services, resident comfort, or resident safety.  Specific areas of responsibility include resident services, preventative maintenance, and general maintenance.


    • Perform installation, maintenance and repairs of building equipment, i.e., motors, heating and air conditioning machines as directed by the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer
    • Ensure all service requests and repairs are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.
    • Respond to facility work orders in a timely manner
    • Perform emergency repairs on any equipment in the building or on building grounds, day or night (as directed by the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer)
    • Keep the Chief Engineer and Assistant Chief Engineer informed of any chronic or unusual problems
    • Able to perform duties of the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer in their absence
    • Assists in any special projects, as required.
    • Perform preventative maintenance of all systems throughout the building.
    • Maintain cleanliness of mechanical equipment.
    • Promote safety and safe practices in all departmental employees, as scheduled
    • Maintain inventory of tools and supplies and keep all work areas orderly and clean
    • Participate in determining departmental goals and objectives.
    • Cross train and orient departmental employees.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    • For safety and productivity reasons, the position requires the ability to read and write English.
    • Knowledge of electrical system design, refrigeration and HVAC systems, emergency backup and hot water systems
    • Must have excellent customer service standards and excellent communication skills
    • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Operating Engineers license, or equivalent
    • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s
    • Minimum of one year of related experience and/or training in the field
    • Proficient in all Microsoft Office software
    • Must have a valid drivers’ license
    • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical functions
    • Ability to practice basic analytical skills, good judgement, and decision-making skills in standard situations.
